Aloha, all. I’ve been here for a few days now and busy adjusting to the six hour time difference between Hawaii and Massachusetts. Weirdly enough, I find that I am tired and hungry all the time… I suspect that being outside and exploring new places, not having access to snacks all the time is having more impact than I can believe.
So, I guess I should make it public that we’re moving!
Ali and I made the decision to move out to Lowell to be closer to his work. Since I work on-location and from a home office, it doesn’t make sense that he should be spending 3 hours every day commuting, even if it’s against the traffic. Three more hours together every day sounds like a pretty good idea! And he will be able to bike to work.
I am incredibly excited about the move to what I tongue-in-cheek refer to as NoBo. It means my beloved Rhode Island will be further away, but I can deal with that. I love riding the commuter rail, so it’s likely I will be rocking the T for shoots in the city rather than chancing those silly Boston metered spots.
We have yet to sign the lease, but I knew as soon as we walked into a particular apartment that it had to be ours. We didn’t get the posh granite countertops like the ones pictured in the loft complex above, or the wood floors, but we will have wonderful industrial windows, exposed beams on the loft ceiling, and lots of closet space.
Not to mention our own view of emo trees by the Merrimac River right outside the window seats. (Hopefully it won’t flood.)
I almost wish we lived in Chicago so we could design our loft apartment with elements scored from Salvage One – recycle, reimagine, build. (Is there a Boston equivalent?)
