Hey, how are you? I figured it’s been eons that I’ve been admiring your work as a lurker, but realised I’d better come out and say it in person. Great stuff your photography! And quite the inspiration. Talking to you the day we helped Kristen move into her Newton apartment convinced me that this is what I should be doing instead of engineering, and after moving back home, it is what I am doing. I am still building up my skills in it, but at least it is earning me a living. Keep on doing what you do as you give the world gorgeous pictures and inspire some of us.

Feedback from recent boudoir sessions:
Hey Rachel!
I ended up giving him the bpix as a belated birthday gift. He absolutely loves them, and still can’t believe that they were taken in our apartment. His jaw nearly dropped when I pointed out the kitchen table as part of our many settings!
He looks at the pictures every day. In fact, the black and white close up you had taken of me in the polka dot dress is currently sitting on his desk at work. Two of the 5×7s are on his night stand & dresser. We still need to figure out what to do with the outrageous 8×10 of the black and white full length shot of me on the table! That image is extraordinary! It’s breath taking.
Thanks again for helping me to surprise him. You made me feel so comfortable, and at the same time…be able to help me recreate one of his many fantasies.
The only catch is that he wants input on my next session! He’s so spoiled!
Wow! There are some incredible shots here!!! [...]
I love them, and I’ll let you know soon which book and which photos I’ll go with for his most original Christmas present ever!
Hehehehe!
THANK YOU!
Rachel,
Thank you! All I can say is WOW. You were so good at making me feel comfortable and it shows. Also, the lighting and composition is just great. Thank you for putting so many into black and white for me. I think [two specific images] are just phenomenal (if I do say so myself). [...]
After seeing these photos, I’m really hoping you hold mini-sessions every year so this can be an annual gift for hom… and I’m also pretty sure that I’ll be able to convince some friends to come with me next time.

So, yesterday was our Boston boudoir holiday promo and it was LOTS of fun! We met some really great women and took some really interesting and beautiful images. And I already got some feedback that made me laugh a lot.
Whoohoo! Can’t wait to see the photos. Thank you in advance for a Christmas gift that will be much more exciting to give him than a sweater.

mustached wedding getting some press
October 31, 2008
Erin and Jared are up at offbeat bride again. Apparently there’s a trend for mustachiod wedding parties.
Also, USA today’s popcandy blog picked it up and posted a link.
Does this mean I can say my work has been featured in USA Today?

… well, not exactly. Along with my friend and colleague Seshu Badrinath, I was featured in a mini-article over at Chicago Wedding Resource. They posted a very approximate quote of what I actually said, but the spirit remains.

The amusing part, at least to me, is that I didn’t even know about it until my dear Rima googled herself, then sent along a link. (I guess it’s easier to find more applicable info with a name like ‘Rima’)
wedding hoop-la
October 7, 2008
Hey Rachel -Wow. We LOVE our wedding photos — we spent an hour and a half looking at them last night! We couldn’t believe how well you captured the the spirit of our celebration and our guests. Our wedding was anything but traditional, and we felt lucky to have an artist like yourself there to document it all.
And you are such a blast to work with! So many of our guests commented on how you fit right in with everyone, and made them feel perfectly comfortable. You’ve got a real knack for blending in to capture the unplanned, uninhibited moments, AND the artistic direction to pull off uniquely composed group shots. What a dynamite combo!
And the fake mustache pics? Downright laugh out loud!
Thank you for being such a perfect part of our hoop-la!

I wanted to let you know that I absolutely LOVE the photos that you put up in my bridals gallery. I love my wedding photos, but realized after the fact that somehow none were taken of just me or just my husband, and I was really bummed to not have that. The bridals that you took are absolutely stunning and I’m so grateful to have them to add to my [wedding] photos. (Looking back, I wish I had thought to find a way to have you at our wedding, along with our photographers) You just have a way of catching the life, beauty and silliness inside of people and using it to make them even more beautiful on the outside (if that makes any sense?) Thank you for all of the work that you’ve done, from boudoirs to bridals for myself (and for my husband… he’s equally as grateful)…

Rachel,
I haven’t looked at the gallery yet. But I needed to share this with you…
I was slightly disappointed when I got my sneak peek last night because I couldn’t see my face in my picture and I really couldn’t wait to get the rest. This morning J. and I exchanged sneak peeks and I was jealous she got 2 previews! Then I realized your logo was on one of hers and went back to look at mine. The one with your logo I thought was just a plug for your business and I totally didn’t realize it was ME! I totally teared up when I realized it. Its beautiful and I couldn’t have asked for a better gift. What you just did for me in that one moment is, in my opinion, the reason us girls do this. You are amazing.-M
Sofia and Mike, 3.

One last image from Sofia and Mike’s wedding to celebrate their collective awesomeness. I didn’t know if they would like this image or not, but when we viewed the images together this was the one they commented the most about.

Also, one of Mike’s friends sent him a message via facebook commenting on the first photos I had posted. I love the line “the most artistic, original yet real”. Woohooo to the anonymous friend of Mike and Sofia!
Hi Mike,
Couldn’t help but drop you a note to say congrats!!!
And ohmigosh those are awesome wedding photos… I have to say the most artistic, original yet real ones I’ve seen so far. Which is why I can’t post this message on your wall =P don’t want to upset my other friends who’ve tied the knot ;-). lol. They’re amazing…you’re right..it’s a tease to see the rest of them.
take care
